What have you done to your audio system?

G'day Chris. I put in one of these Sony DSX-S100 car digital media player sindle din so room for cr@p below. nothing else done.

CD's are like VCRs ... old news. I rarely listen to the radio (often no reception) so audiobooks are my thing. MP3, no skipping on rough roads, no scratched/lost discs.

My ipod died out on my last trip and i lost thousands of song in a flash (usually helps not to spill beer on them) anyways the drive home was very boring with nothing to sing along too and ofcourse all the cds in the glove box where scratched like crazy and didnt play

Ive had an ipod skip to the next song before on rough as guts tracks in the old mq I used to have! Hasnt happened since the upgrade but there not bulletproof either!

If your iPod jumps to a new song on rough roads you have 'shake to shuffle' turned on in the iPod settings :-) it took me a while to work out why it would do that!

In the wagon I have Pioneer 2DIN DVD/CD/Blah blah blah player, iPod in the glovebox, JVC 6" speakers front and rear, MTX 15" 1000W sub, Audioline 800W amp.

In the ute, Pioneer Media Centre (no CD/DVD), iPod in the glovebox, JVC 6" speakers, Pioneer shallow 12" Sub and Alpine 700W amp. A lot may change in future.

The new pioneer double din touch screen media centers look sweet as.. And compatibility between screen and phone (threw an app) is a great idea...

I have a single jvc unit in the wagon, dont use discs anymore so its bluetooth streaming or a 16gb thumb drive for the tunes.

Just waiting on a 2din to be delivered to put in the wifes car

I have one of those cheap Chinese head units, one SD slot for GPS and another SD for music and whatever. It also takes CDs/DVDs and has connectins for external players. It has worked quite well.

Me too Ray. It has Ipod conectio/charging, sd card, DVD,CD, USB,Bluetooth hands free and all manner of other crap. I am more than happy with it.

That'll probably cost you 3x what an equivalent Chinese unit will cost and will be made in SE Asia anyway, probably with the same components that go into every other unit.

But I'll get warranty locally.. But I know were your coming from.. Rc gear is 1/5 the price overseas..

The only reason that I say this is that I bought a Sony xPlod head unit for around $700 (half the regular price) when I got my CRD and it bit the dust about a day or so after the warranty ran out. So I decided to get a cheap Chinese unit and it was a third the price of the discounted Sony and has lasted nearly three times the distance.

I really like how these work, I've always prefered Pioneer for their userability so I'm a little biased. They are no where near as expensive as equivalent branded stuff, but obviously more expensive than the chinese stuff of eBay. They have a very good sound quality, they have a good power rating (what are the chinese thingos putting out?), they allow usage of a subwoofer (does a chinese thingo?) and I have never had a Pioneer headunit fail on me, not even a button or function through dust and mud, they always worked for me.

If you can get one from overseas make sure the frequencies are the same, and I wouldn't be too hesitant as they will last, if they fail in two year or more, they are cheap on eBay and new functions get added each year without going up in price. Therefore you'll upgrade or pick up the same thing for next to nothing. I bought last years single din media centre (top line one with a 3" screen) and it was $200, all works perfect, came in original box with everything, bargin! But if you like the thought of warranty, please don't let me turn you off it.

Wrong mate! I have one of the old school 160g ipods (Small Screen) before "Shake to Shuffle" was included! I have S2S on my iphone 4S so I know the difference!

I have one too and it has spent 70% of its playing life in my carS gloveboxes and only skipped once in my BMW sedan when I jumped a wash out in Noojee

Pioneer is reliable...

Nice sound too... Those cheap ones lack the sound clarity that most decent head units provide...

I love my pioneer unit...
