Shorty1989 Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 I bought a diff centre today but unsure of the ratio! Is there a way to tell the ratio or will it have to go to a diff place to get checked?
Rumcajs Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 (edited) Thats pretty simply; count number of teeth on pinion and crown wheel than ratio=driven/driver or ratio=number of teeth on crown wheel divided by number of teeth on the pinion. Cheers Edited March 4, 2013 by Rumcajs
Shorty1989 Posted March 5, 2013 Author Report Posted March 5, 2013 Ok, so It's a brand new 3:9 ratio and I need a 4:1 Great
Shorty1989 Posted March 10, 2013 Author Report Posted March 10, 2013 Is there Spose to be a crush spacer on the drive pinion?
Rumcajs Posted March 12, 2013 Report Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) There is/are spacer/s and shim/s to get the pinion bearings pre-load right. There are several sizes available. Cheers Edited March 12, 2013 by Rumcajs
Glort Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 What is the tallest ( lowest Reving) ratio on a Gq and how do you know what is in a vehicle without pulling the centres out? Is there a code on the compliance plates?
Rumcajs Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 Looking at the specs it seems the lowest ratio is 3.9, standard was 4.1. There should be a code on the VIN plate like axle type H233B 41 (41 means 4.1 ratio) thats how it is on GU I'm not that sure about GQ. Cheers
Glort Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 You sure know a lot about these things! The Patrol Oracle!
