Toppy Posted June 6, 2012 Report Posted June 6, 2012 Hey guys, Just wondering where I can find the balance tube or whatever its called to allow a snorkel to be fitted to an LPG vehicle with the head facing forward. Cheers
twisty Posted June 6, 2012 Report Posted June 6, 2012 Ive never heard anyone mention a "balance tube" for a snorkel before. I've seen questions asked about differences for lpg snorkels but answers have always been "no change required". Why would you? I can't imagine what modifications would need to be made to any snorkel, for any fuel, regardless of inlet direction. Anyone else?
green troll Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 Hey mate heres the balance pipe I installed. Pics say a thousand words.barb in airtake is cut at a angle to catch some flow. Ive had no issues even at top speed (down hill)lol. Sent from Brett's Galaxy using Tapatalk
twisty Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 Pics say a thousand words. Sorry Brett, I still don't get it. The pipe balances what? What problem/s did snorkel fitment cause that balancing is needed? Would you elaborate please.
Booster Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 I thought a balance pipe for LPG is really only needed for a turbo setup. I think the balance pipe you are referring to is also called a boost reference for the converter. Usually in a naturally aspirated lpg system the cover of the converter just has a small mesh screen on it. If you run a turbo the balance line should be just after the turbo to the converter.
Toppy Posted June 8, 2012 Author Report Posted June 8, 2012 I just heard from a few blokes that without this pipe or tube too much air is forced in causing problems with the LPG.
Winga Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 It used to play up big time on my TB42 GQ used to stall if you put into neutral while driving along green troll 1
