Ray!
If there's one company that I detest more than any other, by a long shot, it's Google. There has never been such an intrusive/invasive organisation in existence - ever. An example is what happened just now when I updated Flash (a crap program if ever there was one) and in the process Google Toolbar was installed without an option to not install. In fact it installed before Flash did. So once the install was finished, I immediately uninstalled the Toolbar, but to uninstall you have to go to the Google site and answer a series of questions, to which I simply answered 'fuck off' and only after submitting the response, did the unistall complete. I'm not sure what the legalities are regarding these unsolicited installs, but the ethics is severely lacking. That's one reason I will not have a Google account, as once you do, it's worse than Facebook with the information it collects and stores. At least with Facebook, you are more or less in control of what information you input. Rant over! Cheers Ray leaf
Glort
Faceache amazes me. People put their whole boring lives on that for the world to see. Birthdates, where they work, Live, go out, who their friends are. A veritable gold mine for identity theft if ever there was one not to mention all sorts of other iligitimate uses I can't even Imagine but I bet the scammers have a field day with. As for google, yep, I have an account and it is full of misinformation like everything else I have to sign up for. Different name, Age is years out, birthdate is months off and the wrong date, location, occupation are all fantasy and unrelated. I only give my spam email so I can get the signup info and then clean all the garbage out next time I want to use it. They want to track me or make some marketing profile they are going to have to work Damn hard for it.
Ray!
It looks like facebook has hit a pothole: CLUSTER-ZUCK: Facebook investigated as losses hit $40 billion US REGULATORS will investigate claims that Morgan Stanley shared negative news about Facebook with major clients in the lead up to its initial public offering. http://www.news.com.au/business/facebook-shares-extend-slide-drop-up-to-9pc-after-open/story-e6frfm1i-1226363999970 Also: The Facebook Fallacy For all its valuation, the social network is just another ad-supported site. Without an earth-changing idea, it will collapse and take down the Web. As Facebook gluts an already glutted market, the fallacy of the Web as a profitable ad medium can no longer be overlooked. The crash will come. And Facebook—that putative transformer of worlds, which is, in reality, only an ad-driven site—will fall with everybody else. http://www.technologyreview.com/web/40437/?p1=A3 Cheers Ray

cairnsGU
Your internet provider knows more about you than anyone else. If you don't want to be tracked by google don't sign into google search and then it won't. Facebook would have to be the worst offender. If it's a trojan, then it's coming from Adobe. Also, Adobe has been really slack in supporting x64 bit systems. Cheers Ray Edited May 23, 2012 by Ray! And Facebook—that putative transformer of worlds, which is, in reality, only an ad-driven site—will fall with everybody else. GOD I HOPE SO! I know I'm weird, I must be. It seems I am one of the few individuals on the planet that dosen't have their nose buried in their phone with people Twit ing ( There's an appropriate name!) them with face ache updates every 5 min. Not only is it kids, the adults are every bit as bad! I was at a casual dinner a couple of weeks ago with a bunch of guys I know, none under 50, all of them high level management or CEO's and even they couldn't resist checking faceache on their phones and reading out messages people had sent them I really found that incredible. I have NEVER looked at faceache on my phone and the only times I do regrugingly use it is for business. With email, MSN, texting and that ancient practice of actualy Ringing someone, WTF do you need to be talking to people on faceace for.???

Ray!
MARK Zuckerberg has come under fire for staying in the shadows in the wake of Facebooks disastrous IPO. More than half a dozen law firms specialising in investor complaints said today they were launching class-action suits against the social networking giant and its underwriters. Susan Heron, CEO of the Australian Institute of Management for Victoria and Tasmania, said people were looking at Zuckerberg as a leader to give them clarity, answers and comfort. Really? Heron think people are looking for clarity, answers and comfort from this guy? Cheers Ray
