Glort Posted May 14, 2012 Report Posted May 14, 2012 Cooma. Stuff that for a Joke. I'm sitting here in Sydney freezing my arse off because the aircon at the front of the house has chit itself and I have been lazy and haven't put the new one in yet. Just finished talking to a friend about some steel and fittings for a veg fired house heater I'm building. Can't wait to get that up and running. If this new Chariot is a Turbo, how can it be slow? Even my tired old NA will easily hold the speed limit on the highway even up the hills. If it's slugish, just give the fuel screw a tweak and you'll be flying.
Jacket_1985 Posted May 14, 2012 Author Report Posted May 14, 2012 (edited) Cooma. Stuff that for a Joke. If this new Chariot is a Turbo, how can it be slow? x2. . . . and she is naturally asthmatic currently. . . . so yes, quite slow -compared to my rb30 turbo GQ anyways lol. I just got home, i had a sleep for a few hrs just north of Cann river(until i nearly froze to death). Car got the normal economy(admittedly a little disconcerting to drive 80km and hardly see the gauge move, Im used to the rb30 now, thats 1/4 of a tank!), i filled up on the hume before the turnoff to canberra, it got home (around 750km) with a 1/3 of the main tank remaining(according to gauge, ill find out for sure when i fill up). i used the subtank. so getting around 12litres per 100kays sitting near as i could on the speed limit. -cruise control is nice. pics in a few hr, im having a shower an gonna have a rest before i face the day. gottheshits Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Bit of under bonnet cleaning needed I think.. then again ive seen pics of your other rides. You cant beat scrub bars, best thing invented for shopping centers. Whats first on the list.....
hmmm Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 tim will only ever think about putting a duramax in a current shape GU. and he would end up building it as a super trourer and keeping it. ha
Ray! Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 I must be some kind of clean freak. I've never had a dirty engine bay, or interior for that matter, in any Patrol that I've ever owned. They have been dirty after a 4WD trip, but I always pressure clean them as soon as I get home, and the interior is vacuumed and cleaned as necessary. And polishing is so worthwhile. After our last trip, I was certain that the pinstripes would be really bad, but after a good wash and re-waxing, the paintwork looks pretty good. Cheers Ray
Jacket_1985 Posted May 15, 2012 Author Report Posted May 15, 2012 (edited) My interior gets dirty. . . i do the same as Ray!, pressure-wash it. -also found it good if you get to it before she dries out.... High tide mark in one of my GQ's. same tide on a GU of mine. Edited May 15, 2012 by Jacket_1985 gottheshits 1

Jacket_1985 Posted May 17, 2012 Author Report Posted May 17, 2012 OK, few things i have sorted as of today. 1: booked roadworthy for monday. 2: ill stick to running my simex's on my alloys to start with. 3: got quotes from united fuel, swafftec, and racebred4wd sorted. 4: bought Ironman HD panhard rods F&R. 5: had extended stainless brakelines made up at enzed. 6: bought new wiper blades and arms. 7: Went to wreckers and got new drivers door hinge. 8: washed it. 9: bought upper control arms. 10: bought lower trailing arms. 11: bought brake bias bracket for 4inch lift. 12: bought steering draglink, and rock rod. Thats about it for 2days of ownership.
GQ Beast Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 Patrolapart had / still has adjustable GQ/U panhards for $149, bit of a clean out..
Jacket_1985 Posted May 18, 2012 Author Report Posted May 18, 2012 Started tidying up a few bits today. Front door hinge was stuffed. New one i got yesterday. Have to take the door off to get the hinge out. found an old sock works good to stop you chipping your door/sill paintwork. New one in place. . . door opens/closes good now.
GQ Beast Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 You can also undo bottom of gaurd to get hinge out!!!
Jacket_1985 Posted May 18, 2012 Author Report Posted May 18, 2012 You can also undo bottom of gaurd to get hinge out!!! Still difficult for GU top hinge. but yes -that is the other option. . . . remove guard, As a side point, ill say nearly any wrecker you go to will have no upper RHS GU hinges left. . . . they are somewhat of a crap design. tip: pinch a lower left hand side one(all wreckers seem to have these, and they are about half the price lol.) they are cross interchangeable. bottom right fits top left, top right fits bottom left. jamus 1
heyhey Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 Just found that the RHS upper hinge on my ute has been replaced
Oldmate Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 Hey mate 2 things You don't stuff around do you? And thanks for the tip on the hinges. Will keep that in mind.

Jacket_1985 Posted May 18, 2012 Author Report Posted May 18, 2012 Hey mate 2 things You don't stuff around do you? And thanks for the tip on the hinges. Will keep that in mind. Hi oldmate, i notice in your sig you have a e-locker, im trying to get Andew to part sponsor me into an e-locker instead of ARB airlockers this time since he is a rep for them. . . can you please load up a pic of the switch for me? also dimensions of the switch?
Oldmate Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 Yeah mate will do in the morning. Pretty sure they are almost the same size as the arb switches. It is the same type, just with a red light in it so you know it is on.

It is the same type, just with a red light in it so you know it is on. Thats good, they used to be a button, but without a light, so it was a pain to see if they on or not. . . . do you crash-lock ever? (flick switch with wheels spinning)
Jacket_1985 Posted May 18, 2012 Author Report Posted May 18, 2012 New walkers, What do we think? iv been offered a brand new set off the first boat, set of 5 inc wheel nuts, balance/fit, on maxxis 37x12.5/17 comp treps for $5,400
