Gissmo Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 Went with the ARB locker as I already had the compressor, now can't wait to test it out.

Bogmeister Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 What sort of acid do you use again? battery acid lol
BigGQWesty Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 (edited) battery acid lol Yea good one.. I know you use demineralized water to top up, but the acid has a proper name. Edit. Mr google answered my question. It's sulfuric acid Edited September 1, 2012 by BigGQWesty
Fathom Posted September 1, 2012 Report Posted September 1, 2012 Started on a rear bar.. Well more precisely I became chief beer getter and lackey while someone else started on it.

BigGQWesty Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 Started on a rear bar.. Well more precisely I became chief beer getter and lackey while someone else started on it. What material did you use for the main bar?
Oldmate Posted September 2, 2012 Report Posted September 2, 2012 Started on a rear bar.. Well more precisely I became chief beer getter and lackey while someone else started on it. Looks good. Can't wait to see it finished

admin Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 Slightly embarrassing, but I checked the oil in my 4.2 and as I pulled the dipstick out I let it touch the + terminal. Sparks and smoke. It only lasted a split second but the damage is done. The bloody dipstick had a burn nearly all the way through and only a few strands of the wire remained intact and whatever material is in the core of the dipstick was broken. I couldn't risk re inserting it so had to cut it and chuck the bottom bit :-( So who wants to tell me how much a new dipstick is going to cost me? Be gentle.
heyhey Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 Haha, I've done that a few times on Cruisers, on one I had to pull the sump off to get the end out. Flames and everything. Such a dumb idea having the terminal that close.
cairnsGU Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 I've done that a few times on my zd30 lol. Last time completely melted through. Bought one through NIZZBITS and I think it was under $30 delivered. I now put a rag over terminal when checking oil. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
dronus4x4 Posted September 16, 2012 Author Report Posted September 16, 2012 I cut a bit of rubber, put two holes in it and cable tied it to the +ve cable so it covers all the positive bits. Works a treat heyhey 1
