The Big Rig Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 Got my Provent today found a bracket I can use to mount it but than found out I don't have long enough bolts
Bogmeister Posted July 22, 2012 Report Posted July 22, 2012 (edited) Fixed my boost leak at the EGR pipe with a second plate (the pipe seems to have warped). Made my catch can "Atmospheric venting", I was still getting oil in the intercooler. Cleaned my I/c and hoses out. Had another fiddle with the dawes/needle valve. I now get 300 degrees at 5psi boost @ 100kmh. I'm happy. Also ran the wires to my drivers side tail and reverse lights. Haloooo Christmas tree Edited July 22, 2012 by Bogmeister
The Big Rig Posted July 22, 2012 Report Posted July 22, 2012 Got most of the wiring done into the cab for boost and pyro gauges. Power cables for my brake controller. Now just to run the power cable from the rear to the battery and the brake wire into the cab than I can join it all up
Davepatrol Posted July 24, 2012 Report Posted July 24, 2012 Changed the revers/flood light on the back. I'll add some more with lights on at night soon.
admin Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 Fitted covers for my IPF 800 lights and ordered a gas strut retrofit kit for my kaymar rear bar.
The Big Rig Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 Got my exhaust done today just waiting to pick it up :-( I didn't think it be an all day job I got to start work at 6
Tonka Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 Big rig, could u do a thread on the exhaust fit with pics?
The Big Rig Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 I got someone to do it cause I didnt want to fight with heat shield. Blocked the egr at both ends as mine was cracked I'll put the photos up of the cracked egr pipe :-( was not impressed now I know why I may have heavy fuel consumption lately
Fathom Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 Replaced crank battery, replaced auxiliary battery with some deep cycle glass thingy.... I broke an upper tail light up at the Glasshouse a couple of weeks ago... So replaced both with working lights.
The Big Rig Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 Changed my fog lights since I busted the lenses at zig zag
Rumcajs Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 (edited) Finally decided to swap reverse lights (utterly useless) for indicators (more useful, so the idiots who tailgate can see) and install new truck sourced LED reverse light in rear bumper. Pity mine has a cut out for spare wheel in the bumper, it'd be good to fit second one on that side. Run the harness out on RHS rear gromment (wanted to avoid exhaust pipe) it turned out rather well lit. Replaced set of intercooler hose clamps for decent one (unlike the cheap ass Nissan attempt). Cheers Edited July 29, 2012 by Rumcajs Bogmeister 1
Bogmeister Posted August 1, 2012 Report Posted August 1, 2012 Drove it 1000km. Condobolin. NSW to Brigalow. Qld. Needs a wash now lol. They permitted the load to travel on a zig zag route all over NSW, It was a good trip tho :-)
Russ81 Posted August 1, 2012 Report Posted August 1, 2012 Dropped the V8 into the engine bay and found a set of factory alloys for when it goes over the pits
Bogmeister Posted August 10, 2012 Report Posted August 10, 2012 Changed my weeping coolant bottle and dodgy radiator cap
matto9018 Posted August 11, 2012 Report Posted August 11, 2012 Not really what I do on my partol but I put my hands down on 2008 CRD patrol with 57,000kms on the clock for $32000, it comes with full service history logbooks, bonnet protector, alloy bullbar, IEP or something spotlight, towbar, reverse sensor, brand new tyres and one owner!! Finally took the old girl for spin today for the first time in 6 weeks!! Seriuosly I don't know what to do with my GU3 either give it to the missus or sell it!! Cheers
Fathom Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 One of the dogs helped me clean my awning
Oldmate Posted August 13, 2012 Report Posted August 13, 2012 (edited) Nothing to the GU, but raised the door height on my garage so I can finally get the GU in with the roof racks on, and so I can reverse the new camper into back yard when it arrives. Oldmate Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Ordered some more bits and pieces today. Will post pics when they arrive.
Bogmeister Posted August 16, 2012 Report Posted August 16, 2012 (edited) Drove 1080km, mostly with a 600mm x1200mm sign standing up on the roof. I used both tanks and had to drop a jerry can in 80km from home. I think that averages about 12.5l per 100km. I'm happy. Oh yeah, i poked around in the fuel tank when I got home and bent my breather up a little to fit some more fuel in. I cant remember where I saw how to do it but thanks to the poster for the info Edited August 17, 2012 by Bogmeister BigGQWesty 1
Oldmate Posted August 17, 2012 Report Posted August 17, 2012 Painted trim and fitted this. Got all the in cab wiring done and run boost and egt through firewall ready to do engine bay side of it. Waiting on some other things to finish. Was hoping they would arrive today, but mmmmm 3:45pm on friday, i don't think i will see them. Rumcajs and Bogmeister 2
Rumcajs Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 Decided that it was finally a time to purchase a battery charger after borrowing one for years from a mate ...... So got me self this you beaut Redarc unit (pricey, I didn't pay full price) but awesome as it can correctly charge all types of vehicle batteries be it standards lead acid, calcium lead acid, or gel types. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do to save Trol's genuine battery as it is now 7 years old and can't hold the charge anymore......so charged it once again before going on a quick trip this weekend (i'm gonna pack the jumper cables just in case) and than gota decide what to replace it with. Any ideas? Cheers
dronus4x4 Posted August 21, 2012 Author Report Posted August 21, 2012 Looks good mate. There is a guy on grand junction road at the port Adelaide end who does great deals on sealed batteries. 7 years is pretty good but yeah its time for it to go! Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Bogmeister Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 Tip the acid out , hose the cells out and replace the acid. You might get a bit more time lol
Oldmate Posted August 23, 2012 Report Posted August 23, 2012 not the sort from the 90's  well it was good at the time.. Bogmeister and BigGQWesty 2
