  1. Do you have a GQ or a DX GU?
  2. Do you have a GQ or a GU DX? If not, not likely to happen
  3. So do I, three half sets
  4. Thanks mate, Start practicing as soon as you can! I was welding with an Arc when I was 10, started out self taught, used to sneek into the shed and get the welder going whilst Dad was at work, never really worked for me but I soon learnt how to hold a bead. Once Dad caught on, he taught me how to weld, problem is the Arc welder is like 60 years old, is held togther with a heap of clamps, screws etc, it pulses in and out. Biggest POS welder, but just doesn't die so the old man refuses to replace it. Still managed to make a bar that seems to be lasting and heavy duty enough to knock over trees (accidently )
  5. Warn from early 2000s, Aldi winch from around 2007 and Tigerz11 from 2009. Warn looks like it has never seen grease, Aldi had never been touched, Tigerz11 services twice due to faults occurring within the first 6 months which warranty was declined for BS reasons. The problem is, the Tigerz11 is marketed with the highest pulling capacity, the most sealed casing and said to be robust by their manufacturer/importer. However, looking at material quality, design and general engineering, one would rate the Tigerz11 as having the least capacity. I had the Tigerz braking on me when the Patrol was pretty stock, I ended up add rear bar, big storage system and a permanent payload of probably 300kg. The Warn has not failed at all, it's now on my mates car who has never heard of a snatch block pulling his Patrol up vertical cliffs (slightly exaggerated). If you want a cheap winch get an Aldi, Ridge Ryder, eBay winch if you want a better winch get a Warn. Middle market is a load of crap
  6. Hey Folks, Just wondering anyone has the standard 16" alloys from a GUIV or later. I know they are usually 17", but I have found some 16" variants locally and not sure if they are genuine or not as there is no Nissan stamp on them.
  7. Ahh, bloody hell. I'm scared to copy and paste my own intellectual property from that site now.
  8. Overall review. Tigerz11 - Cheap shit would never buy one again, even after rebuilding, modifiying to take the much more engineered and stronger Aldi internals, it still warped the gearbox and has massive resistance, almost unable to spool out by hand. Aldi - The best cheapest winch I have seen. Many of the eBay jobs are the same, not sure about material quality but as they are all 'No Brand' winches, you could assume they are the same. By far the choice over the Tigerz11 12,000lb even it they are only 9,000lb. Tigerz11 are a gmock and could never ever ever pull 12,000lb without busting. Warn - Best by a quite a bit, obviously you pay the price, but proven engineering. I'ld not look elsewhere as secondhand Warns are as good if not better than any brand new chinese stuff and the same price off eBay plus maybe a $100 rebuild depending on condition of course. Tigerz11 - Marketed product for the masses, not an engineered product for the user. Would never recommend them to anyone. Spend your money elsewhere and get something better for cheaper or the same price.
  9. The warn has been ABUSED! Mud and water throughout the whole thing and it STILL WORKS! So full rebuild for it, new 6.6hp motor and I might hook up an airline to it, to pressurize it when submerging it in water or mud? The Warn is the longest, then Aldi, then Tigerz11 Tigerz11 its 160mm x 165mm.

There was only a short warranty on the Solenoid box, the motor to drive shaft coupling was flimsy and crap and died and the very outside set of planetary gears don't run even close to smoothly around the housing and I didn't have confidence in it anymore. It happened after when I was winching up a slippery slope, it was rutted, no bog holes, no logs just a very shiny wet clay surface and it spat the dummy and I couldn't even release tension. I ended up having to get the high lift jack out and use it to pull the Patrol about half a metre forward to unhook the winch. If a high lift can pull it without breaking thats worrying?. And thats why I got a Warn instead of fixing it, seen standard 9,000lb Warns pull all day out of ridiculous situations.
  11. As extracted from my post on P4x4: Just picked up my second hand Warn winch today, got it in the shed and sat it next to my deceased Tigerz11 and a mates original Aldi winch (which lived a hard life and died winching a massive log underwater for ages). I was astonished at the size difference!!! It's heaps different! Im not sure what to trust, is the Warn over-engineered for being 9,000lb or even 12,000lb or is the Tigerz11 under-engineered for 9,000lb or even 12,000lb and is the Aldi neutral! Im not sure??? Eitherway looks like the Aldi is a good buy and the Warn I assume once freshened up will last me longer than the Tigerz11 Notes: - The Aldi and Warn's clutch lever feels like a nicer turn and feels like it engages better, even when on the ground. - I do like the actual clutch lever on the Tigerz11 better. - The hand controls for the Aldi and Warn is WAY better. - Aldi and Warn control box is not sealed, but my Tigerz11 control box stuffed up twice because it didn't seal just right and kept moisture inside the box which also killed it and it was mounted under the bonnet where it is warm and safe from dirt. As mentioned previously the Aldi died underwater and all the solenoids work on the Aldi and the Warn and that looks like it has had a decent life as they both have dirt inside the box. - Good cable attachments to drum, I had a few issues with the Tigerz as you do not screw on the rope. Not a biggy but its something.
  12. Haha, fcker lol. Seriously, Chrome Vanadium tools for the tool kit in the car, cheap random tools that you'll use a couple times in a life time, winches that are FIFTY MILLION times better than Tigerz11 (as proven by my thread in P4x4 that I'll bring over here too), but yes booze is pretty shit, I've given most of it a go. Don't like the RSL, to many old fuck wits that think they know best. They know old, not best
  13. I started a thread about his product failing on me, he just sorted it. I don't think he'ld be phased by it. Truckster was never baned, he was having a real rough patch in life and simply hasn't been invloved in the forum anymore. Who was banned for life for pulling all their info?
  14. Pulled about 10kgs of wire out of the cab, thanks to the mines for having alternative switches for headlights, taillights, etc, I know have a life time supply of automotive wiring, switches, relays, conduit, etc. Good fun!
  15. Aldi sell wicked cheap tools and random shit, I shop there, fuck the rest off unless they sell cheap booze
  16. If you have time and a welder and angle grinder, its really just like a puzzle, work out what you have, what you need, where to put it and it's done. Apart from the box section and hubs and axles, all the steel was salvaged and the old bar is made completely from salvaged steel
  17. Hey mate, just curious to know what fuel economy your getting? I haven't done a good run in mine yet, but it'ld be interensting to know what a compareable model is doing.
  18. I have zero, don't know what you've been up to
  19. Haha, it is so much fun! Becuase he is probably watching it thinking "fark you guys, I'm gonna play with you until this shit dies off"
  20. If you had 17" wheels, would it be alright?
  21. I have these at work for trailers, sheds, cabinets, etc http://www.abloy.com.au/en/abloy/abloycomau/ At Melbourne Water and Yarra Valley Water, we used a system at was compatible with ABUS locks and other domestic stuff, I'm having a mental blank and can't remember what the brand was
  22. What does it scrape on? Disc?
  23. Look like I'm going to Jaycar tonight
  24. They are the going prices anywhere in Aus
  25. There are three ways to do this. All quite expensive, but some less than others. Buy a Nissan chipped key and get Nissan to program it to the ECU Buy a chipped key off eBay (some work some don't) and get Nissan to program it to the ECU Buy a key with a programmable chip from locksmith, no need to be programmed as it will mimic the original chip code
