  2. That is a sweeeeeeet pic man !!! hahahaha.... I just got a little worried for a second there when you mentioned " Deep Creek" and "Backstairs passage" in one sentence..... hahaha.... Just kidding That wind deflector.... Is it a bought item or DIY ?
  3. My 2 girlfriends.....hahahaha..... at the border post of South Africa and Lesotho ( landlocked country within South Africa ) The one that doesn't moan at me still showing off her oldest original wheel cover
  4. This was a trip we did with 2 other mates in Botswana salt pans ( just to the north west of South Africa )...... Kilometers and more kilometers of absolute flatness !!! On this trip : My Iron Maiden ( still with old wheel cover ) 4.2L turbo diesel My mate Grant's 4.2L turbo diesel ST ( with 400 000Km and still original motor never opened ) My mate Greg's 3.0 GL ( with the camping trailer )
  5. hahahaha.... whoaaa.... slow down .... I'm still trying to catch up from last year......hahahaha
  6. Well done both of you, and little Matilda Anne !!!!
  7. I have the C-tek 250 dual fitted to my Iron Maiden.... yeah a bit pricey here in South Africa compared to other alternatives but has been working like a charm for years now. Also a super easy installation !!
  8. Welcome !! Enjoy the 3rd Patrol !!!
  9. Not sure about the fuses..... I would think they would be in the fuse compartment below the steering wheel near the door. I doubt its in the fuse box behind the battery. GQ pump motor on a GU.....hmmmmmm.... I would think it would fit as these pumps are pretty much standard in most vehicles. I think swapping over the connectors is a good idea to see where the fault lies.
  10. Yip.... there are 2 pump motors connected to the washer bottle in front of the battery in the engine bay. Check the fuses if the motor isn't making any noise, or maybe there is a blockage at the pump feed or pipe leading to the rear washer sprayer. I've had to sit once or twice with a pin to shove into the little hole at the sprayer to unblock some old polish or something that got into the sprayer
  11. Hmmmm.... I'm in South Africa.... and here the Nissan stealers do just that. I'll give them a call and see what they say
  12. Welcome.... My bump strops have been broken for ages and I cringe everytime I flex the axles. I must look into the prices, but Nissan scares me..... hahaha
  13. Yeah....like he said..... Welcome !!
  14. hahaha.... very good .... You made my day!!
  15. Hi Pete, Welcome !!
  16. First and most important, in my opinion is to fit a EGT Gauge (pyro gauge). The TD42 with aftermarket turbo if set up incorrectly will push HIGH egt's which can cause major problems. I have a bigger radiator fitted in mine, and that makes a HUGE difference. Viscous coupling also needs to be in good working order too. Oil blowby is a problem on mine too as I have the boost set quite at 12psi, but so far other than sweating around the turbo, all is good so far. An oil catch can is also a good mod to do and adds piece of mind. At 12 psi I have pretty decent pulling power, even with my big camping trailer, but on a long uphill I can see my EGT's climb easily into the early 600 deg C ( probe pre turbo)
  17. Hey hey ... Welcome, you will always get the lurkers..... hahaha
  18. I need to replace the rubber trim that fits between the plastic wheel arch and the body. The sun has cooked mine over the years and its gone a bit hard, but those @%$&@$ clips are such a pain in the ____ to try salvage when removing. I will have to go find me a handfull of them before I tackle that job.
  19. If there is no pictures then it didn't happen......hahahahaha Congrats on the lift. It will be interesting to see how it performs offroad with the 50mm lift !!
  20. haha....lucky man... I was at the coast of Mozambique ( country to the east of South Africa ) a few years back, and on the soooooooft beach sand I had to get a mate with a Hummer to tow start my Iron Maiden....hahaha.... how embarrassing!!
  21. Good to hear you are up and running again.... push starting a diesel with 22:1 compression ratio is not fun !!!
  22. On my 99 TD42 I have a rubber bung on the firewall below the difflock solenoid, where the wheel arch basically meets the firewall in the engine bay. I have my EGT wires running through there into the cab. There is also another below the clutch booster if I remember correctly. Its a mission to get to the other end of the wires when you push them through.... you got to have fingers like a gynie.....hahaha
  23. As far as I know yes they will fit. The only real difference between the GQ and GU on the front suspension was the wheel bearing lock nut... other than that I think they are identical. Why would they change something that works well.... hmmmm.... ok, don't answer that
  24. hahahaha..... I thought my post might sound a bit....ummmm how should a say it.....hahaha But I think my TD42's waste gate is working just fine... especially with the amount of black smoke bellowing out the back side when I floor it !! I need to up the boost on mine a little bit. Mines only boosting at 0.7 bar ( 10 psi ). I think me and my Patrol have a date on Saturday .....hahaha
  25. The body shape of the GQ is quite different to the GU. The chassis is very similar, but the bullbar will need a lot of panelbeating to get it to fit the shape of the GU
