1. New sliders.
2. You forgot to mention that it's red so will go faster.
3. Here's some from our last trip to Fraser.
4. Probably a bit far for you. But Precise Automotive at Narangba.
These guys know Patrols...
5. Changed my spotties to a LED spot/spread and put some HID's on for distance.
6. Broke my drag link and steering damper last weekend at Janowen. Wish I had of fitted this prior to going. Lol
7. Seems it letting me post pics again. Here is the rear awning in action.
8. I thought most vehicles with those types of gutters had some type of sealant along them, as well as the welds. Just went and looked at my truck and it has, and it definitely has never had any repair work near or on the roof. Can't remember the new term, but there are check you can do REVS Certificates to check history/ insurance repairs etc.
9. Lol no worries... Let's just keep the Jardine crossing a secret.... I do have a pic of the northern entry exit somewhere too. But A quick internet search should bring up a heap.. We heard people were doing the crossing. But we saw no tyre fresh tracks on the northern side.
10. There is fuel about every 2-300klm. That sounds close but you will need to consider where you are going... The main exception would be the Starke track... Cape Melville etc But otherwise easy to access. Supplies the same. Just you pay more for food and fuel... Bit like Fraser Island prices... It's pretty well posted, a combination of paper, a good gps and paying attention to where you are and you can't go wrong... Navigation wise. Hmm I will tell you the truth about crossing the Jardine... We drove to the crossing.. South side... Looked at it, decided as a group to take the ferry... I reversed in to take a smart Alec shot to say my wheels have been in the Jardine.. The water is flowing... By the time we took a couple of pics.. My back axle was buried like a submarine... One of my mates gave me a quick snatch out... When we looked at the north side of the crossing, it's weedy, dark and murky.. Not like the south side.. I am glad I lost the vote to and not cross it... No way would you see a croc in there... One bloke did try just after we left. We met up with him again that night .. He was still dripping wet.. Didn't make it, but we heard of plenty that did... I stress.. Heard.. Not saw....
11. Southern side of the Jardine.
12. More.. From about may town up... The west coast is far nicer than the east... Less wind blown on the coast too. 4 weeks is a good time. So you will have the time to get around.. Vryilla point is with a look If you decide to cross the Jardine, check carefully for crocs first. Then check again. If you get stuck or someone in your party does, they can make the recovery awkward... If you are travelling solo.. I would advise against it. but it's your call.
13. Best trip I have ever done. Very jealous. Do lots of research it's ok to look at other peoples itineraries. But planning yourself with google maps etc will mean when you get there, you will have a better idea of what interests you. Don't forget old coach rd as another historical/ iconic track to add to your list. You will have a blast!
14. Merry Christmas! Have a happy and safe New Year!
15. Put the sliders back on today... While I was messing with paint.. I repaint the rear bar- colour match to the sliders... Re rust proofed and re painted the undercarriage. All ready for Fraser Island after Christmas. Here is one of my dogs showing me where I should lie to do up the last few bolts...
16. Yeah I do spend a bit of time on the beach. Personally I think it was surface prep. I did think about ringing and discussing it with him but figured it would just go round in circles. To be honest I wouldn't be put off buying them, they are solid, welds seem good... Seem to reasonably thick steel. (I am not gonna cut through one to check ) but they are heavy. I would just paint them really well before you put them on. Other people seem happy with them.. So my sliders might be just a rare exception . Cheers
17. Are those sliders from Bolsy's? If so, any dramas fitting them? Straight fit? Cheers Yep they are Bolsey's. The seemed to fit ok. I had a mate help me fit them about 18 months ago. I did have to cut an exhaust mount to fit them, however it's an after market system so that could go either way. More the point I took them off cause they were incredibly rusty. I touch them up if I scratch them, (I opted for the painted ones so I would be able to touch up scratches etc, as opposed to powder coating) and there is no rust anywhere else on my truck, but I took I grinder and a hammer to these today... they were that rusty I was bashing rust scale a mil or two thick off with a hammer. No idea why they corroded so badly, but I soaked them in rust converter , and painted them with rust converter/primer. Hopefully I won't have to do it again.
18. Took my rock sliders off today.. Sanded them back, have them in undercoat now, should be able to finish painting them tomorrow
19. Up until recently... I thought an SLR was just a Torana... I suspect a quality camera would be wasted on me... No eye at all for a good pic... But still happy to have the memory on film.. Or I should say hard drive now..
20. SAD..... But true..... Here is another thing I have done recently.. Put on a rear awning so on wet days I can leave the back open and the fridge and drop down table stay dry.. Or on hot days stay cool.. I also added strip LED lighting to the awnings so I can light them up to cook etc
21. Nice. That's a trip I am keen on doing one day...
22. I dunno if this helps.. http://www.bogaard.com.au/Products/Turbo-Timer-Features-and-installation.aspx But I guess you could contact them if you needed more info..
