In an effort to stop the destruction, joyriders testing their 4WD skill in state forests when its wet, are now liable to penalties of up to $2200. This seems to be happening more and more. Locally, a concrete crossing was closed recently. Seems the grime from cars was, possibly, going to contaminate the water supply SPLASH

It's a gimick. Service stations have guages and some have a preset option as well. Perhaps they're trying to make it easier for the driver. The pitch ... no need to understand tyres and their pressures, 1 flash is good, 3 is bad.

Beef cattle, cropping (3 cut and bale each year, well, most) and own use fruit and veg at my place. Got rid of the sheep 15 years ago (yay). No mention of the time spent on weed control; that is constant and never ending. Fencing doesn't last forever and determined large animals do damage. Netting fences are the worst damaged by kangaroos (there are LOTS of them). I'm a fifth generation farmer so the workload isn't surprising. It's silly working in the rain so there's been plenty of down time recently. I've also been a city boy with my grandparents the last to live on the farm so a merged lifestyle is possible. Hell is being a dairy farmer. Shearing and crutching suck the most.

breeding of that heifer should be reconsidered.

Well, as Glort points out above (thanks again), ram air and rain water issues aren't really important in a Patrol. If we wanted to got fast there are more suitable vehicles. So it's about not drowning (in a river) and cleaner air (in the dust). I'm yet to be convinced that exposing the inlet via a snorkel is any better at dust protection than the concealed inlet behind the guard. So that leaves drowning. It's called a "snorkel" for a reason and the inlet only needs to be high and have a similar surface area as the factory piping in the guard. For example, the pipe up the windscreen could be simply capped (flat or round) and slots cut out in the pipe (as long as the cutout surface area was greater than 3"). You could also leave the pipe open with a 90 degree bend. Just make sure birds can't nest in it. Still thinking

Thanks Glort. So the forward facing inlet design on plastic snorkels really doesn't have much benefit. Time for some "out of the box" thinking.

Nup ... don't like them, sorry. Same as Millweld, not square, straight or alligned properly. Stands out like dogs balls ... yuk. And I like the bonnet entry even less now.
-
Mark ... for less than $200 why would you bother keeping it. It's a throw away item. I get that space is at a premium and this mini (NOT single din size, half the size, it's tiny) uhf of mine could be fitted in the sunglasses recess in the overhaed console easily. I even considered putting it in the centre console under the lid. my 2 cents.

yeah ... go through the guard, Told ya the bonnet idea was trouble.

"can't" ... you mean "won't", ya tease. What can you tell me about petrol chips? Are they different to diesel chips? Are they all the same? I understand I won't get the improvements you'll get with a diesel, but a dual map for lpg/petrol would be nice, I think.

and cheap. it works ... I talk, it talks back (most times)
-
Do it how you like. Bonnet entry sounds a bit difficult but if you want something a bit different ... why not. I'm tossing up between a chrome (SS) finish to match the bullbar, or powdercoat green (jade) to match duco. I've given myself two months to decide, so hurry up with yours.

just to make the choice easier I've got this one. very happy. 80 channels and 5watts with antenna.

-
Well, I've had a word to the man in charge and warm weather is on the way for all the sooks. Now I can get back to the fencing.

I can make money out of mud, not dust. Let it rain.
